The strongest signal yet that the end of Covid hysteria is upon us came from an unlikely source today. The singularity for some of the most invasive and freedom-robbing pandemic measures, New York City, has finally seen their pendulum of authoritarianism swing in the other direction. On October 25th, the State Supreme Court of NY ruled that all government employees fired for refusing to take an experimental Covid vaccine be reinstated to their employment and awarded backpay. Over the past year, nearly 1400 workers including youthful police officers and firefighters were terminated in what was obvious to many people as an inexcusable violation of human rights. However, there were others who praised the firings, believing the workers got exactly what they deserved for attempting to make their own medical decisions.
When the vaccine mandates started under Mayor DiBlasio and Governor Cuomo, we were told that to not vaccinate oneself against Covid was the epitome of selfish and ignorant behavior. We were told the vaccines were perfectly safe, they prevented the spread of this disease – this pandemic of the unvaccinated – and you were an anti-science racist if you disagreed. However, as time passed, thousands of VAERS cases describing post vaccine injury and death, as well as every vaccinated individual contracting the virus, ultimately proved the “Trust the Science” zealots were disconnected from reality. Nevertheless, the mandates continued.
Citizens in NY and elsewhere were forced into heart-wrenching choices between providing for their families or standing by their principles. This tyranny was completely unnecessary. By the time the vaccines were available, we all knew who was most susceptible to serious risk from Covid, the very old and the very unhealthy, but that didn’t stop self righteous politicians from forcing the same medical plan on every citizen as if Covid were Small Pox or Polio. At this point no one could argue that the Covid cult was practicing science. After all, science adapts theory to reality. Ideology adapts reality to theory.
Once resistance to this decree was sensed, lines were quickly drawn and the free-thinking, fear-resistant citizens were identified, ostracized and punished with impressive speed. The vaccines clearly didn’t prevent spread, but that didn’t matter. A significant amount of the population was not doing as they were told and examples needed to be made. Besides, the self-described enlightened members of society were unified in pretending that their intravenous holy water made them better people than the unvaxed heathens and no amount of evidence to the contrary would force them to let go of their state-sanctioned, morally superior status. Those that disobeyed the omnipotent authority of the consensus would be made to suffer like they deserved. That is, until today, when our founding principle of separation of powers came to the rescue.
Metaphorically allowing the submerged beach ball of truth to come flying out of the water, the judicial branch declared the vaccine mandate “arbitrary and capricious” because the vaccines in fact do not prevent contracting or spreading the virus and it is finally acceptable for a government official to admit that out loud. So, in a long overdue vindication, the court ruled in favor of the clotless plaintiffs and indemnified them for lost wages. Of course, the workers will never receive an apology from their persecutors and the narrative of the unvaccinated being dirty or selfish still lingers in some beguiled minds. Moreover, we still face challenges like the insane debate over requiring schoolchildren to be vaccinated, but today’s ruling was an important step in the right direction. Justice was served for these workers. Truth was allowed to be acknowledged and that may just signal that the madness is finally coming to an end.
Excellent! This undeniable obstruction of the right to medical integrity and autonomy needs its day of reckoning.
