Last week’s $355M punitive ruling against former President Trump was arguably the most blatant miscarriage of modern justice since the O.J. verdict. It was also a flagrant violation of the 8th Amendment which prohibits excessive fines. To truly appreciate the Soviet nature of this precedent, one must go back to 2019 when NY Attorney General Letitia James was running for her current office. She promised then that she would sue Donald Trump and be a “real pain in the ass” to him. After several years of investigations in search of a crime, which is the antithesis of how America’s justice system is supposed to work, the worst offense she could find is the alleged overvaluation of real estate on a bank loan application. It would have to do.
AG James alchemized this common occurrence and non-crime into a never-before-seen fraud charge against her orange obsession. Keep in mind this was a loan with a private bank, a bank who did their own due diligence and property assessments, agreed to the loan and was paid back in full with interest. The fact which makes this case so ludicrous is the prosecution was unable to produce a single complaint or claim of damages from anyone involved, yet proceeded with charging Trump anyway.
In a free society with checks and balances against such abuses of power, there would be a judge who would toss this case out. In deep blue NY, however, Judge Arthur Engoron would prove himself to be as corrupt and partisan as the “Get Trump” AG. Engoron basically decided Trump’s guilt before the trial began. He issued a gag-order against Trump when he criticized the farcical case, denied him a jury trial and ultimately ruled that Trump would have to pay nearly a half a billion dollar fine despite not being able to explain how he arrived at such a ridiculous figure.
Of course, any rational person can see that if not for Trump’s reelection bid, none of this would be happening. Unfortunately, the Democrat Party has grown accustomed to openly using spiteful, unprincipled leftists like James and Engoron to inflict pain on their opponents over the past several years. This case was pure lawfare, a transparent political attack meant to end Trump’s campaign. Since the ruling, Letitia James has told reporters that she will not hesitate to seize Trump’s marquee properties in NY if he is unable to pay the arbitrary, yet astronomical sum. AG James is just the most recent bloated face of a grotesque establishment that has grown more brazen and desperate in their efforts to take down the only man who threatens their power. Impeachments did not work, calling Trump an insurrectionist while imprisoning his supporters has not worked. Now they are attempting to financially assassinate Trump. And his supporters have not taken it lightly.
A group called Truckers for Trump has responded by saying they will stop hauling goods such as food and fuel to NY in protest of the grossly unjust treatment of a man they feel represents their values and patriotic principles. If this movement continues to grow, it could give MAGA even more momentum headed into the election, further solidifying the working class vote for Republicans, a demographic that once overwhelmingly belonged to Democrats. More than just an election year headline, it will take bold collective action such as this to defeat the elitist and globalist ruling class which would rather see this country burn than give up an ounce of their ill-gotten power.
Leftists have been using their influence to cancel and punish conservatives for years and good people have finally had enough. From university admissions to human resource departments to the woke attorneys who conduct lawfare against conservative groups, Marxists instinctively seek positions of power and influence over others. This is why you almost exclusively see leftists in government and administrative jobs which lack concrete objectives, but offer some degree of authority. On the other hand, conservatives are more likely to value their own independence through self employment in result-oriented fields with reliance on their own hard work. Truckers mostly work for themselves, far apart from DEI policies, HR wokescolds, and union overlords. This is why the left despises truckers. They are typically conservative, freedom-loving Americans and nobody controls them. That type of autonomy represents a threat to people who only seek to rule.
Letitia James is nothing more than your garden-variety leftist. Soft in body and mind, absent of principles, full of hate. She once vowed to tear down a system that was “too male, too pale and too stale.” She is no more capable of building a real estate empire than she is of grinding out an honest living driving an enormous truck coast to coast. Yet she threatens to tear down what she could never build after excelling in politics by scratching the right backs and slitting the right throats. She targeted Trump to please those above her and climb the political ladder while her community suffers rampant crime. No justice was served here, but it matters not. She has done all she can with her power to hurt someone who threatens it. That’s what Marxists do. That’s all they do. No principles, no values, no standards. It is because of people like Letitia James that the country has veered so far from its promise and potential. It may just be up to truckers to steer it back.
