“Fight.”

In the early evening of July 13th, 2024, former President Donald Trump was hosting a rally of supporters in Butler, PA when the joyful event suddenly turned into a calamitous moment in American history.  Bullets were fired from a rooftop a little more than a football field away, and moments later, Trump was on the ground with Secret Service agents piling on top of him. A radical leftist tried to kill the Republican presidential candidate, potentially setting ablaze the tinderbox of ideological conflict that has threatened our country for years.  But as is so often the case in times like these, inspiration and transformation can arise from tragedy in a way the antagonists never could have imagined.

Though bloodied from an assassin’s shot through his ear, the President had a message for all Americans in what he had every reason to believe might be his final moments. Now on his feet, Secret Service Agents tried to contain him, shielding him as their training demands.  It had little effect. Trump stood tall, fearlessly pumping his fist to let his supporters know that he was okay, that he was unafraid, and no matter what happens, the America First movement must go on. With an expression of resolve and passion I have never before seen on his face, he yelled one word.

“Fight!”

Though mayhem was unfolding and nobody knew if the danger had passed, the crowd responded with cheers and chants of “USA!” This moment captured something that millions of Americans, bludgeoned for years exclusively with two-minutes-hate media coverage of the former president, may have gotten to see for the first time, the real Donald Trump. The man is a selfless, patriot. He loves America. He wants what is best for her people and has demonstrated his willingness to give up his wealth, his freedom, and now even his own life in service of that cause. His detractors paint him as a tyrannical dictator, yet in the two days since the attempt on his life, he has made no remarks of blame or vengeance. Instead, his messaging has been carefully constructed pleas for unity.

The assassination attempt was predicted by many.  After the Democrats had smeared him, impeached him, spied on him, tried to bankrupt and imprison him, he still led in the polls. There was only one more logical step in their crescendo of hatred. Prominent Democrats like Hillary Clinton and members of the media compared Trump to Hitler more times that we can count. Biden called Trump a “genuine threat to the nation.” and said he represented the “end of democracy.” Their irresponsible and desperate rhetoric all but called for an attempt on Trump’s life. Now that they again have failed, we are likely to see the same effect every other attempt to take down the MAGA founder has had. This will only make him stronger and elevate his status.  For instance, Donald Trump now ranks in a legendary category among only three President’s to survive taking a bullet for their country. He is in the company of Ronald Reagan and Teddy Roosevelt, and Trump is the only one that was shot in the head.

Optimistically, I think this event could be a turning point for many Americans who have simply had it with the hatred and violence of the left and are ready to express it. Personally, I have never had a problem voicing my opinions, showing love for my country, or criticizing the self-serving politicians who think they run it.  Not everyone feels that sense of freedom. A dozen or more friends text me privately about my posts and articles.  They tell me they agree, they share articles, some even thank me for speaking out.  While I am grateful for these relationships, for years I have often wondered, “Where is your voice? Why are you so timid, so fearful of speaking out if you share my passions and concerns?”

I believe what Trump meant, as he yelled to the crowd with blood on his face, is that now is not the time to be intimidated into silence.  Now is the time to let your fellow citizens know where you stand.  There are many destructive and evil forces in this country that need opposition. If you oppose endangering our children with mass illegal immigration, say so. If reckless government spending is making life unaffordable with massive inflation, you’re not alone. If people are telling you that you must tolerate men in your daughter’s locker room or pornography in your child’s school library, do not be quiet.  Let it be known that you will not comply with mandates for experimental vaccines or lockdowns.  And it’s time we all denounce the toxic media activists whose divisive lies have radicalized their low information audience to violence.

Not everyone needs a blog, or a MAGA hat, or to attend a protest, but I strongly urge every patriot to heed Trump’s call to fight.  The first step to fighting for what is right is not allowing yourself to be bullied into silence, especially by biology-denying climate zealots wearing face masks. We have to vote and encourage others to do the same. We must support Trump to help him accomplish his near impossible task of beating the federal bureaucratic deep state and giving the country back to the people. You know what is right.  You know what type of country you want for your children. Use your first amendment right to awaken others and do not be afraid. This is your country. Voice your concerns with your neighbors and friends in person and on social media.  You’ll find you’re not alone. Fight for the future of your country.  Fight for the future rights of your children.

Fight.
