The record for Democrat-run big cities is quite abysmal over the past half century.  Our once famous “Mo-town,” Detroit is now an abandoned murder capital.  Chicago leads the nation in naked political corruption and rampant gang violence.  San Francisco, perhaps our most beautiful city, is now a haven for homeless tent encampments, open-air drug use, and unprosecuted crime.  LA, Baltimore, St. Louis, the list goes on and on.  Leftist policies that embrace big government, high taxes, lax law enforcement, illegal immigration, and DEI have been destroying American cities for decades. However, the Democrat party has done a decent job of keeping their true crazies, the self-described socialists, out of positions with serious executive authority.

Until now.

Zohran Mamdani just received the Democrat nomination for Mayor of NYC in a ranked-choice voting primary with fewer than 30% of registered Dems participating.  His leading competitor was disgraced former NY Governor Andrew Cuomo, who lazily thought he could win the nomination based upon name recognition alone.  The Mayoral race will conclude in November.  Incumbent Mayor Eric Adams is running as an Independent.  The Republican “challenger” is the raspberry beret-clad Curtis Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels, a crime prevention non-profit organization.

Mamdani is an Indian immigrant, by way of Uganda and South Africa. He was naturalized as an American citizen seven years ago.  He is Muslim and has refused to condemn calls for global intifada. (Discussed more in Part II)  Mandani calls himself a proud socialist. However, a consistent theme among Democrats seems to be the downplaying of their Leninist leanings.  In reality, Democrats are really socialists, and socialists are really communists.  Mamdani’s plans for government-run grocery stores and proliferating rent-controlled government housing are unequivocally communist. His stated goals of seizing the means of production and redistributing wealth are straight from the pages of The Communist Manifesto.  Mamdani has said he does not believe billionaires should exist and that predominantly white communities should be taxed more.  He called a Christopher Columbus statue a symbol of hate and demanded its removal.  Zohran Mamdani is the most radical, anti-American activist to ever seek the Manhattan mayor’s office.

Like fellow Democrat-Socialists AOC, Bernie Sanders, and even Marx himself, Mamdani comes from a life of wealth and privilege.  He has never had a real (private sector) job.  His mother is an international filmmaker. His father is a senior Columbia professor. He attended Bowdoin, a $70k/year college.  After a less than successful bid as a social justice rapper, Mamdani, African Studies degree in hand, set out to change the world as a community organizer and later, assemblyman in Queens.

Mamdani is just 33 years old. His entire life experience has been predicated by the bottomless pockets of his parents and his unaccountable municipal employer. He claims to have bold, new ideas, but in reality, there is nothing fresh about them. His ideas carry the stench of a hundred million dead bodies in foreign countries where they have been forced on unwilling and forsaken populations. His supporters are simply too young and naive to understand the bloodied history behind his ultra left doctrine.

Mamdani’s ideology of Marxist socialism is the same that turned a prosperous Venezuela into a third world country, caused the downfall of the Soviet Union, and motivates people to escape Cuba on floating trash.  Those who understand Marxism know that it is an evil ideology built on resentment and envy. Its defining characteristic is not love for the poor, as advertised, but rather hatred for the rich. It does not bring opportunity and equity.  It brings suffering and gulags.  For Mamdani, one could surmise that Marxism feeds into his own visceral self-loathing and guilt for living a life of endless privilege that he himself did not earn.  Now, with the help of mostly upper-class white women who share not only his guilt, but also his disdain for Western civilization, he may get his chance to damage NY in ways not seen since 9/11.

Mamdani either genuinely possesses the dangerous combination of arrogance, ignorance, and laziness required to be a true believer in socialism, or he accurately sees Marxism as the Trojan Horse that can bring down the globe’s superpower if he can just plant it inside the walls of our greatest city.  Either way, a vote for him is arguably the most un-American thing a NY citizen can do. The left appears done pretending they respect our culture of meritocracy and freedom. They want equality of outcomes, and it matters not how pitiful that outcome is.   The once respectable Democrat party has morphed into nothing more than an America-hating mob that demands free stuff. 

Defeating Mamdani will be an uphill battle now that he has the Democrat nomination. It will likely require all other candidates to drop out and encourage their supporters to back the incumbent Adams, including Republicans.  Cuomo and Sliwa would need to unite and endorse Adams, perhaps securing themselves positions inside an Adams administration.  A divided field will fall to the Communist, but the combined force of Republicans, Independents, and sane Democrats can beat Mamdani.  That may be the only way to save NYC. 

I hope the people of NY pull together to defend America from the creeping socialists.  Zohran Mamdani is an enemy of the Republic.  There is no other way to say it. The policies he espouses would bankrupt our greatest city and overwhelm it with crime.  For these reasons, and more to be discussed later, Mamdani is the most dangerous threat NYC has ever seen, and he must be defeated at all costs.

Part II Preview

Sun Tzu said to never interrupt your enemy while he’s making a mistake. Many conservatives have taken this posture as the Democrat party has lost many elections because of their constant drifting further and further to the left. Climate zealotry, sanctuary cities, mountainous taxation, and endless harassment by nanny state bureaucrats were Democrat policies that would drive more and more Americans into the welcoming arms of Republicans.  “Good, let them destroy themselves” was a common utterance. 

And destroy themselves they did, but in doing so, they have created havoc in many parts of the country.  Now, they have doubled down on their blunders, and the stakes are too high.  Their aim will put our greatest city on a path towards destruction, and we can not let it happen.  NYC is too essential to be a sacrificial lamb on the “I told you so” altar of politics. 

NYC is under threat by its leading mayoral candidate, Zohran Mamdani.  What makes him so dangerous is not only his Marxism but also a reason people seem reluctant to discuss, his Islamism.  Mamdani represents the deadly unification of Islam and the progressive left that has already destroyed large sections of Europe.  Despite their clear ideological differences, Islamists and the left have a common goal, the destruction of our Judeo-Christian Western culture. 

This day has been coming for a while.  Now that the confrontation is here Americans must not be browbeat into submission the way the Europeans were.  NYC is the modern day Rome, and the people of the United States can not allow a Marxist Islamist to control it…
