Iryna Zarutska was a 23 year old Ukrainian refugee.  She came to the US seeking security, but sadly she likely would have been safer in her war-torn country than in Charlotte, NC.  I speak of her in the past tense because on August 22nd, she stepped onto a train, sat down, and for no reason whatsoever was stabbed in the neck by a homeless man. The murderer, Decarlos Brown, is a 4 time felon and mentally ill, according to his most recent public defender.  He had been arrested 14 times.  He never should have been on the streets, but that did not stop Charlotte’s liberal, soft-on-crime justice system from putting him there so he could kill an innocent woman.

Across the country, Democrats are engaged in a cover up of the crime epidemic in their cities.  Corrupt DA’s reduce charges on serious crimes to misdemeanors, and inept judges set criminals free through cashless bail or lenient sentencing.  This translates to lower conviction rates which Democrats point to as evidence of crime going down.  As Stephen Miller recently put it, “The Democrat Party at every level—judges, politicians, academics, nonprofits—is organized around the defense and protection of the criminal, the monstrous and the depraved.” They would clearly rather hide the problem than admit their policies are causing it, and Americans are suffering.

The Media’s Complicity

Despite there being a graphic video of the murder, it took nearly two weeks for this story to come to light, and only then on X.  If the races were reversed, and it was a white man killing a black woman, it would have been endless wall to wall media coverage beginning within minutes of the attack.  Instead, the racist media treated this horrific story just like all other black on white violence.  They gave it zero coverage.  Ever faithful to their bigotry of low expectations, they regard black violence as a “dog bites man” story.  It is so common, they don’t feel it to be newsworthy.  Another hurdle to truth-telling on their part is stories like this run counter to their hopeless narrative that blacks are victims of white aggressors. This narrative is so desperate for evidence that the media turned George Floyd’s fentanyl overdose into a “white cop kills unarmed black man” homicide story, a lie that lives on to this day.

There are far too many people ignorant to the problem of dangerous criminals being set free to roam the streets because of Democrat “racial justice” policies.   This lack of awareness puts lives at risk and is a direct result of the media’s irresponsibility in refusing to report the reality of the situation in blue cities.   The purpose of the media is to speak truth to power.  When the government fails to protect its citizens, it is up to the media to expose the true nature of the problem and demand accountability. However, the mainstream media in this country has chosen ideological allegiance over their Constitutionally enshrined responsibility to inform the American people.

This tragedy occurred in part because Iryna believed America was safer than it really is. There is also a chance her view of the world was somewhat naive. A photo of Iryna on social media ironically revealed she had a Black Lives Matter poster in her room. Perhaps she felt that if she didn’t sit where she did and suppress any survival instincts screaming inside of her, she would have been guilty of some form of racism or microaggression. It is impossible to know.  However, we can say with certainty that Democrat DEI policies and woke activist judges have made our cities unsafe by keeping murderers on the street to walk among us. If Iryna were more informed about such things, perhaps she would have conducted herself differently and would not have been scrolling on her phone without a care in the world while the killer unfolded his pocket knife.

This worthless criminal should never have been released from prison. Now, another beautiful, innocent life has been senselessly taken.  Not only because our corrupt justice system failed her, but also because our media made sure she was completely unaware that it had.
