About

On a warm September day in 1787, Ben Franklin exited the doors of Independence Hall after several months of service in what would come to be known as the Constitutional Convention.  A concerned citizen approached him and inquired what form of government the Founders had ascribed to the fledgling nation.  Franklin responded, “A Republic, if you can keep it.”

Franklin’s sage words reflected a somber awareness of how fragile this system of limited government would be, given what history had thus far demonstrated about the nature of man.  He knew his newly formed Constitutional Republic would be subject to attacks by enemies both foreign and domestic, by minds both weak and strong, by hearts both pernicious and well-intentioned.  Perhaps for the first time in our Nation’s history, we face greater threats internally than from enemies abroad.  Power-hungry politicians look to circumvent the Constitution at every turn and usurp authority specifically denied by our separation of powers. Agencies of the Federal Government are being weaponized against political opponents.  Censorship has replaced debate and states are having their freedom to govern robbed by lifelong bureaucrats in Washington, DC.  In summary, the Bill of Rights is being disregarded by arrogant policymakers who mistakenly consider themselves to be morally and intellectually superior to the citizen, whom they wish to rule, not serve.

The writings and dialogue on this site are meant to call attention to the erosion of our freedoms and the trampling of our founding documents.  The Freedom of the Press enshrined in the First Amendment was meant to guard against any corruption or ill-intent of our leaders and hold them accountable for their actions.  However, that responsibility has long been discarded, exchanged for a seat at the table of the elite. With corporate media now largely complicit in the expansion of government control over our lives, it is now up to individual citizens of this country to keep each other informed and guarded so that our liberty may be preserved.  It is our responsibility as patriotic Americans to remain watchful and challenge any voice or action that threatens the cherished liberty we wish to pass on to our children.  It is the goal of Keeping the Republic to do just that.
