Ned Flanders Elected House Speaker

No, not really Ned Flanders.  Actually, he looks a bit more like George McFly prior to Marty substantially improving his future. Okay, joking aside.  His real name is Congressman Mike Johnson, and to be honest, I am kind of excited about this guy.

I admit, I recognized his face, but had to do some research as I didn’t know anything about him.  Sure, he’s a bit of a Bible thumper.  Indeed, the left is calling him a MAGA extremist.  And yes, he’s a four term representative from Frog Balls, Louisiana.  That said, he’s apparently a GOP unifier.  He won the Speakership in a unanimous vote, which many thought was impossible.  More importantly, judging from his inspirational victory speech given on the House floor, he is hardly just another establishment RINO.

As he addressed America for the first time as Speaker, Johnson outlined the seven core principles that have made us the most successful nation in the history of the world:

1. Individual Freedom
2. Limited Government
3. The Rule of Law
4. Peace Through Strength
5. Fiscal Responsibility
6. Free Markets
7. Human Dignity

Thomas Jefferson could not compose a better set of founding principles. These are values Republicans are supposed to share, but often lack when the chips are down.  In fact, they are too often only marginally better in adhering to them than Democrats, who vehemently oppose each and every item on the list.

I have learned to be careful in getting too excited in these situations as I have been hurt before (Paul Ryan). Johnson, however, does appear to be the real deal as he has been refreshingly unafraid to speak about topics on which his colleagues have been bullied into silence.  Election security, the border, the deficit, Soros DA’s, and antisemitism are all critical issues that need conviction and strength to tackle.  Let us hope he possesses those qualities.

Speaker Johnson faces a Democrat machine that has proven it has every executive branch agency in its pocket and will do anything to crush their opponents. In Congress, he’s up against card-carrying Marxists, terrorist sympathizers, and the ruthless tax-and-spend Beltway uniparty.  If Johnson can bring the GOP together by reminding them of their principles and their oath to defend the Constitution, our Republic may just thrive again.

Lastly, if the new Speaker can stand on stilts in the swamp, listen to the people, and put America first, that could give Trump even more momentum headed into the election. If that scenario plays out, history may look back on Gaetz’s gambit as one of the most brilliant political moves in history. And that would be okilly-dokilly with me.
