The Unified Field Theory of Leftist Politics

Despite the world-changing contributions to science made by Albert Einstein, neither he nor any physicist since has been able to reconcile his General Theory of Relativity with Quantum Physics.  To develop one set of rules that explains all physical phenomena from celestial bodies to elementary particles would mean to reach a Unified Field Theory (UFT). While this all-encompassing law of physics may have stumped the best minds on the planet, a similar formula describing all observable nature of leftists is far less complicated.

The UFT of the left is as follows:  Leftist Politics = Narcissism.  I apologize for the anti-climactic simplicity, but allow me to explain. The term “Narcissism” gets thrown around and is often confused with braggadocio.  Trump is described as a narcissist when he crows about his wealth or crowd sizes, however, true narcissism is seeing everything in the world through a lens of yourself and desperately seeking admiration from others. The narcissist is constantly preoccupied with how he is perceived and needs endless validation. He is not someone comfortable in his own skin, rather he needs to hear and believe that he is better than others. This itch is often scratched by having an inflated sense of self importance, but can also be satiated by putting other people down. The need to feel superior to others leads the narcissist to focus on giving people reasons to provide that feedback loop. As a result, the narcissist spends far more time and energy signaling virtue than engaging in more mature mental exercises such as critical thought or truth discovery.

What does this obsession with looking good to friends and neighbors look like?  It looks like a suburban mom taking her 7 year old child to a drag queen striptease in order to showcase her own tolerance. It is calling everyone who disagrees with you a racist.  It is supporting Covid vaccine mandates months after it was evident the jab didn’t prevent spread because the narrative of the vaccinated being morally superior to the unvaccinated was too affirming to discard.  It is the profane displays of hatred and fantasized violence against President Trump, whom some have been convinced is worse than Hitler, so the more one hates him, the more moral that person is.  It is supporting a lawless open border to show your compassion towards people of color while ignoring the suffering it causes the same population. It is cheering on male competitors in female sports as they destroy the dreams of women. Lastly, it is the advocacy for the irreversible mutilation of children with real or imagined gender dysphoria in an effort to display how accepting you are of transgender identities.

None of the above mentioned behaviors make any rational sense. How can the obvious moral corruption, suffering and injustice in these examples be so easily ignored by someone claiming to be well-intentioned? No responsible parent would expose their child to sexually charged theatre. Anyone who sees a male athlete rob a female athlete of a trophy or scholarship knows it is ethically wrong. Anyone who has ever interacted with or been a teenager knows that giving someone not old enough yet to get a legal tattoo the authority to chemically castrate themselves is psychopathic. Therefore these contradictions between harmful stances and good intentions do not make sense. That is, until one considers the UFT for leftism and recognizes that it is not about facts, science, doing good or solving problems.  Positive results are completely inconsequential. The only priority is showcasing any of the cardinal leftist virtues of inclusion, pity for minorities, hatred for specific people they’ve been instructed to hate, racism against white or “white adjacent” people and equity-driven social justice. All that matters is being seen as more caring and more compassionate than other people, even if only at the most cursory and intellectually lazy level.  Flags, signs, pins, bumper stickers, and social media profiles are critical in this endeavor.  If you care about the planet enough to believe it is going to end in ten years, if you believe in transwomen’s rights so firmly that you support biological men destroying women’s sports, if you’re compassionate enough to look past the child trafficking and fentanyl deaths an open border encourages, simply voice those opinions on social media and there will be no shortage of equally insecure souls to tell you what a good person you are.

And that is it.  That is leftist politics in its purest form.  These are not well-thought-out positions to achieve the greatest good.  These are superficial, emotional responses to complex issues that are meant to convey one thing – the benevolence of the person espousing them. By the time the negative consequences of their woefully irresponsible policies are evident, they’ll be on to their next mindless hashtag and fishing for more affirmation.  “Look at me! Look what a nice and compassionate person I am! I’m clearly one of the good people!”  That’s it. That’s all it is.  From climate change hysteria, to Trump Derangement Syndrome to marching in pride parades, it all comes down to me, me, me.
