It has been said, “If you are not a liberal at 25, you have no heart. If you are not a conservative at 35, you have no brain.”  The undeniable truth in that statement is likely why it has survived for a century or more.  I once thought that the reason behind that adage was simply that wisdom follows maturity.  Young adults eventually leave their childish viewpoints behind as they experience life’s lessons and acquire more wisdom.  But there is a better explanation.

Surely, the bumps and bruises that one acquires after leaving the nest absolutely contribute to a more grown-up perspective.  However, nothing grows you up faster than having children.  Your priorities realign quickly and entirely around these new delicate beings for whom you must provide safety, security, love, and opportunity.  The childless lifestyle luxury of egocentricity, as well as the vaccuous, bumpersticker political slogans about climate change, abortion, or gun control, no longer suffice.  Concerns for the actual well-being of your community and your country become quite real, and for the first time, they extend beyond your own extremities and shelf life.  Simply put, your focus becomes wanting the best for your kids.  So, how compatible are your new selfless goals with the policies of the modern Democrat party?  Let’s look.

As a parent, you want your children to have the same opportunities you did (or better) because you yourself are proof that hard work, discipline, sacrifice, humility, and a little luck can be a winning formula.  As long as the game doesn’t change, you can teach your children those values, and they too can have a good life.  But Democrats want to replace meritocracy with a system of government-instituted equality of outcomes based on skin color, gender, and other DEI characteristics.  They want a fundamental transformation of the game, in which there is no way to prepare your children to succeed.

Probably topping your list is wanting your children to be healthy.  But how could any parent who lived through Covid forget that Democrats are the party that masked and isolated children without any scientific rationale?  They also forced children to take an experimental mRNA spike protein jab in order to return to school.  Thousands of vax-injuries and fatalities later, they still have not admitted any wrongdoing.

Of course, you want your children to be safe. Well, Democrats are the party of defunding police, cashless bail, and open border policies that have made our streets far less safe.  News stories of rape and murder perpetrated by illegal immigrants are now constant as leftists continue to invite criminals into our society.  We have also seen that Dems have turned a willfully blind eye to rising antisemitism and threats coming from their ranks against Jewish Americans in the past year.

You want financial security for your family.  Conversely, Democrats wish to tax you into poverty and redistribute your earnings to destitute illegal immigrants they have imported for votes.  The crippling inflation resulting from their irresponsible spending means American families now need an extra $1000 per month in income just to maintain the same lifestyle they had three years ago.  At the same time, home ownership has become essentially unaffordable for young Americans. 

You want to preserve your child’s innocence and address adult subjects of sexuality at an appropriate age.  Meanwhile, Democrats cheerlead drag queen story hours, children’s books on gender fluidity, and tampons in boys’ bathrooms.  They also advocate boys competing against girls in sports, robbing your daughters of glory and injuring them on the field.

Other contributions Democrats have recently made to our nation include an explosion in child sex trafficking due to the lawless border, as well as hundreds of thousands of fentanyl overdoses that disproportionately affect American youth.  With tragically misguided and self-righteous zeal, they have also sanctioned the mutilation and sterilization of gender-confused adolescents in what they describe as “gender-affirming care.”  Lastly, their relentless obsession with skin color and toxic identity politics teach children resentment and victimology, furthering division and preventing racial harmony.

All people, including parents, can have whatever political beliefs they choose, but conservative policies have a far better record of keeping children safe and preserving American freedoms, especially parents’rights.  Whereas, Democrat policies have empiracally not benefited the safety, security, or health of children.  Even in leftist circles where intentions are often valued over results, people are waking up to the harm Democrat policies have caused our most vulnerable citizens, and families are fleeing blue states in droves.

There was a time when informed, responsible parents could vote Democrat with a clear conscience, but that time has long, long since passed. Vote for your children this November.
